MemberThree main options in terms of heading to a bike related event.
1) Giro in Belfast / Dublin
2) Tour in Yorkshire / London
3) Tour in the Alps
4) National road championship in Monmouth
5) None of the aboveThe Cardiff trip to the Alps last year worked out at £375 each including chalet, ferry, van hire, petrol and tolls, with two vans heading down overnight to the Alps. (Food and pocket money on top). We managed to see three stages of the tour as well as ride several of the tour climbs. Well worth the effort if we can get a few of us to club together and commit to it.

MemberTom,
You can have my slot at 5.30 if you want?
Please confirm via this forum, if you don’t pop anything here I’ll go as normal.

MemberAs last year, I wont be riding on principle of the entry fee. However those who do enter should have a good day out.

MemberSadly it’s something we see on a lot of club rides, I even had to have a private word with one of our members a couple of weeks ago for crossing the line on a blind bend with a car coming the other way not only dangering himself but other club members.
I think generally we ride OK, but we’ve also have had luck on our side so far. A tragic lesson was learnt in Cardiff a few months ago with one rider killed for riding two wide and hitting a van.
Club rides should be enjoyable and safe for all. Tightening our riding should only increase our ability and eventually become second nature.
Perhaps one Sunday we should aim somewhere flat or even the outdoor track in Carmarthen (with Nick?) to practice group riding and honing our skills.
Anyway…

prepare to be unimpressed by my lack of fitness after three weeks off the bike.

MemberI’d love to but I think a trip to the Giro and Tour are more on the cards for next year. Belfast, Dublin & London and hopefully the Alps.

MemberSadly won’t be there, I had an off (over the handlebars) before the London/Surrey 100 on the weekend. Managed to finish but my bike needs some TLC and my shoulder needs a rest.
Enjoy

MemberNice of you all to ride off as I fell to the ground! (back wheel jammed and failed to unclip, forcing a slow motion fall and blood to flow (well appear anyway)).
Eventually saw you all turn right at the top of Colby, so to spite you all I turned left with Sweaty!
Until 3am Saturday morning!

MemberI think team cars are the way forward for the club! (see pic)

MemberPerhaps a trip to the Alps next year for the Dynamos?
The Cardiff Ajax trip I just return from was more than worth it, with £150 covering a chalet in the Alps (just 25km from Alpe D’Huez) and £180 covering all transport (van hire, petrol and tolls). We managed to get to three stages, the second individual time trial where we could easily get a spot on the barriers on the finish, Alpe D’Huez the following day plus seeing them roll out the following morning.
The riding there is spectacular, climbing over 10,000m during the week with a few of the major cols concurred at a leisurely pace.
Road trip next year?

MemberI may regret this but Saturday morning 3-5am.
I’ll need to check if my Garmin 500 can record turbo sessions ok.

MemberI’ll be heading to Cardiff and Devon to watch the tour of britain. At Cardiff there should be an Ajax 60-70miler before heading to Caerphilly mountain to watch the pros, I’m sure as last year all will be welcome.
