It’s that time of year again.
Sadly, this year Mr and Mrs ValleyMan will not be around to help out and I have therefore been asked by Carl Evans on behalf of the IronMan organisation if there is anyone in the Dynamos who would like to take on the role of Team Leader for the Narberth Section of the Bike Course.
You get a different tee shirt to the mere volunteers and get to swan about all day with a walkie talkie looking very important as I am sure you will remember from previous years.
In addition to the above, you have to attend several volunteer open evenings and the briefing on the Friday, manage and allocate marshals around the course, check the course for problems the night before and first thing in the morning and respond to issues during the day. This includes calming down irate motorists and stopping cyclists when they don’t meet the cut off then finally standing down the marshals.
If you are interested please let me know and I will put you in touch with Carl.
August 2, 2014 at 12:13 pm #27511butcherboyMemberIts the same for me this year. I have entered the etap cymru ride which falls on the same day.
So if anybody would like to take charge of the feed station in Narberth please get in touch. Not as much work to do as valleyMan`s role.
You will have to meet up with whoever drops the container off on Saturday night and they will give you the keys. Then open up around 7.30am on the sunday.
If anybody is interested please let me know.

August 4, 2014 at 8:36 am #27517Andrew_WrightMemberWe’re expecting our little one to arrive on the 1st September so I can’t commit to all day.
I am hoping I can at least help out for a few hours, possibly first thing to help set up and possibly again later in the day.
August 4, 2014 at 10:19 am #27518The Slinky OtterMemberI’m away to doing another event. I would recommend the marshalling for those who have not done it, it’s really good fun and it’s great being part of the day.
August 4, 2014 at 2:10 pm #27521MatGMemberI marshaled for two years. & was so inspired I am competing this year. As a commitment to the feed station I will eat as much as I can. For those who want to support the event without any training or tasks please sponsor me details on home page.
August 4, 2014 at 4:17 pm #27522RogerMemberI will be on a Tandem in Italy
August 16, 2014 at 11:33 am #27555butcherboyMemberIronman need to know asap if we are going to man the feed station. Also they need to know who is going to take charge of it this year.
As only 2 have replied so far, I assume no one else wants to do it.
I have to let them know by this Tues/Wed at the latest. So last chance to put your name down here or give me a ring. Thanks.
September 1, 2014 at 7:01 pm #27579butcherboyMemberStumpy will be in charge of the feed station. Narberth scouts are also going to help. We still need volunteers from the Dynamos. During the club rides in the last week, I have had 4/5 people offer their help. There is a meeting next Monday in the rugby club to give all volunteers their packs. Will need to know names by then please. 10 members will get the club £200.
Its great stumpy is going to organise the feed station. but he is going to need as much support from us as possible. So if you are planning on giving any help at all please let us know. Thanks.
September 3, 2014 at 6:50 am #27583stumpyMemberAndrew what time on Monday for the meeting
September 4, 2014 at 7:26 pm #27584butcherboyMemberThe meeting is now on Wednesday at 7pm. Still in the rugby club.
September 7, 2014 at 5:48 am #27587stumpyMemberThanks for that.
September 8, 2014 at 10:37 am #27589Andrew_WrightMemberStumpy,
I’ll pop into the meeting on Wednesday and I more than happy to help for a few hours set up and hopefully later on in the day. We now have a little one so I’ll probably need to slip back for a few hours of nappy duty.

September 9, 2014 at 8:15 pm #27594GmanMemberStumpy,
Not able to make it to Wednesday meeting but will be there on Sunday (8 am or earlier?) and can stay most of day. Have done the feed station several times before.
