On the off chance some of you occasionally dable in some off-roadery, I thought I’d fire this across the Dynamos bow.
A group of us are going to ride the famous Marreg Trail on the 10th of August. The Marreg Trail is a 55 mile mountain bike route which starts at Foel Drygarn near Crymych and finishes on Carn LLidi by Whitesands beach. We hit every named ‘mountain’ en route, including Foel Cwymcerwyn, Foel Eryr, Carn Ingi etc. Here is a route map (scroll down and right). Marreg Trail. Its 20 miles off road to Goodwick then 30 miles road to Whitesands (with the odd detour to climb a peak!
We’re starting at 7am, or meet in Narberth at 6:30am.
This isnt for the faint hearted because it normally takes about 10 hours. It’s not technically difficult but does require a mountain bike or hybrid with nobblies. We move along at a mellow pace, its very social with plenty of stops for abuse\chatting. We have lunch in Goodwick Tesco’s and refill the bottles.
Here is a video of our day…
Liked the video slinky, got griff a good un.
Oh ye if I wasn’t away I would have been with you.Keep me informed if you have any more adventures like that.
Looked great fun slinky. Might like to try that next time.
And the background music was good to. perhaps Mat g’s idea of a song for the dynamos is worth thinking about.
We tend to do the Marreg every 3 years. It takes that long to recover! This year it took us 12 hours. My bum still hurts!
As you see in the video its a great route. Andrew, you’d love it, it’s not too technical but there is plenty of riding to be done – according to my Strava there was 2,900ft of climbing in the first 24 miles so its not for the faint hearted!
Does a trip to Brechfa again interest either of you or anyone else? Valleyman and co had a good time there last time we went up.
yes up for that slinky, had a good day up in llandegla last week, great off road track only did the blue run with harri then back to the cafe and shop after.
