From Sunday we are now the proud owners of a Cannondale R2 road tandem….went out for a maiden voyage and after a “discussion” with regards to the best way of starting off we never looked back!
Went out this evening to Cresswell quay…yes I had a pint (complete stranger came up and started talking tandem and cycling talk and invited us a cycling event in the Gower)..and there was no requirement for rambling…23 miles 14.1 mph average..not a bad start with someone who hasn’t cycled more than 3 or 4 miles for 20 + years!…a new era begins
..stunned into silence..
Can we expect the rivalry to continue on tandems from now on, is Janice in training?
Funny you should mention Janice. I get the feeling Janice may be more enthusiastic than Andrew!
Got to keep Janice away from Roger and his tandem!
Up at the crack of 13.00 today!…Got up to Maenclohog and then a roll at Lys-y-Fran…then back via Clarbeston Rd and Llawhaden..
32 miles and still no rambling..the adventure continues
Thank you for you interest Ian,
Just come back from at weekend in Belgium..where we came across a group of cyclists moving at about 40-50 mph but in the end we gave up as small familiar-looking man with a yellow helmet outsprinted the peleton…thats a filler as this weekend I was in Henley and not available for any mode of cycling..hopefully I’ll be out tomorrow but then I’m on a bikeless holiday for 2 weeks…my season is definitley coming to an end
How about you Ian..its been so long since we saw you I was wondering if you were going to require stabilsers …oh and how’s Kim’s “new” bike?
Following Andrew and my mini ” widow maker” on Wednesday afternoon [ sorry not to attend the evening..at the new improved start time ] out on the Tandem to day…40 miles and almost no moaning! Lunch stop at St Brides Saundersfoot….so far so good!
Stabilisers coming off this week to celebrate arrival of my Garmin. I think it would be very interesting to get a perspective from the No.2 seat on the Tamdem… I am sure we could find space on the road if you wanted to bring the beast out on a Club ride.
