August 7, 2011 at 4:26 pm #24304swancvsMemberI must of just missed you guys. I got to Penblewin Roundabout after a 60 minute time trial not bad time keeping but nonetheless didn’t get there till 0805, I waited at the roundabout figuring I’d catch you on the way up the hill. I didn’t!
Perhaps, you guys went up to redstone cross and I missed you at the roundabout, too busy staring down the hill!
Anyway, I figured I’d missed you by 08:20 so it was put up or shut up time. Decided it was a shame to be all dressed up and just head home. So I headed off ‘Billy no mates’…
It was a an interesting ride, covering many of the joys of cycling, the weather ranged from blue sky, fluffy clouds, to cold, grey miserable and of course biblical rainfall! Damn that stuff stings at speed.
The Angel herself was kind, dry and sunny, bloody long and steep, but good weather for that bit.
I’ve uploaded the file for you sniggers. All in all a good ride, some of the road sections ooop North were awful but in the main a cracker of a run, thoroughly recommended.

Probably worth leaving note on site/ or texting Andrew if you are meeting part way round
aimed to do long course in reverse but cut it a bit short
down through templeton
right before boars head to cross hands
left at carew
right at redberth
through st florence up 17%er
right on ridgeway where it had stopped raining so I took my coat off – although Andrew did warn me if I did that it would start raining. I smugly thought don’t be daft that’s an old wives tale – well sure enough within 1 minute we had the hardest shower of the day & I got soaked through – had to stop to put my coat back on
Moral listen to Andrew & old wives!
Anyway back to the route
At lamphey decided not to go on to Angle or even Pembroke
Turned left on to Tenby
Up to New Hedges
Saundersfoot, Coppitt Hall, Wiseman’s Bridge, Ludchurch, Princes Gate, Templeton
stats 68km & 600m climbing & probably 60mins waiting by Andrew for me – as I struglled to get any tempo
August 7, 2011 at 7:15 pm #24306swancvsMemberNo worries Matt, it was always a risk not telling you guys I was coming, trouble was, I didn’t know if I was until very late. I nearly didn’t thanks to my 6 month old puppy, hence the 60 minute time trial.
Alls well that ends well, to be honest guys you missed out on an amazing ride. Had LOADS of weather, but in between the soakings (my God they were heavy)there was some amazing scenery, loved the view of Newport both going down from Nevern to from Carn Ingli.
Cracking route and one that should stay on the club books methinks.
