Today was my first race day as a cat 4 rider. i had 3 races two were cat 3+4 together and one was cat 4 only , the first race was cat 3+4 and was very fast i found myself hanging onto the back of the bunch(70+ riders) struggling to keep up i managed to finish the race in the bunch which to for my first attempt was not bad ,

the next race was 4th cat only ,i managed too stay in the middle of the bunch(30+riders) until the bell went for the last lap 1/4 of the way through the lap i managed to sprint my way to the front where i lead all the way to the finish straight and had a sprint finish i ended up finishing 4th, it was awesome

the last race was 3+4 again i managed to stay in the bunch again and ended up coming about 20th out of about 70+ riders.

i ended the day coming 5th overall out of the 4th cat riders which i think will get me 6 points on my b-c liscence i think i need 10 too become a cat 3 :D

Ditto. You will be wanting a free Dynamo’s shirt next, or perhaps sponsorships from a well known local butcher?

4 laps of a 1.5km flat circuit. Would suit Sweaty to a tee!

That’s my sort of cycling. Sounds like heaven!!!

Mind you, don’t know how heavenly an average speed of nearly 30mph would be. How many categories are there? Perhaps I could be broken in nice and gentle in a category 20 or something. Don’t be misled by my burst of speed on the road out of Tonypandy, that was not athletic prowess but fear, pure fear.

cat 4,3,2,1 and elite . was really good fun average speed was between 26+28 mph a lap its not too bad as long as you stay with the pack if you drop out the back thats the end of the race well worth a go, pembrey have a circuit night on the 2nd tuesday in june and every tuesday after for 8 weeks pop along and watch see if its your thing
