This was not a ride of 4 halves, or eight quarters or anything else.
We arrived at Afan park at 9am that is me Roger and Andrew to say the heavens had opened was a understatement it was pouring down, Coffee was suggested, but Andrew was keen to get on with it, and Andrew made the statement you can only get wet once, so we got ready donned the wet weather gear and headed off by now we where already wet.
Turn right out of Afan park and straight on to the climb of the Bwlch 8 miles and 530m above sea level later we reached the summit, I think it was the summit you could only see the road in front of us all around was fog and heavy rain, we stopped to discuss if we should abandon the run and head to Aberdare to Rogers farther in law. We decided to make the call when we climbed the Rhigos, The time came after 18 miles and another big climb should we carry on, we had all warmed up by this point and we decided to carry on someone said its only another 30miles.
By now Roger the Road Runner and Andrew Speedy Gonzales had the bit between their teeth and the pace was getting faster but in fairness they had waited on the top of both climbs for me. But i had the upper hand i had the Sat Nav , without this we would have got lost, the usual thing having to shout to them in the distance from way behind with directions , we took a couple of wrong turns but eventually we got back to Afan Park
3hrs 50 min later 52 miles 1400mts of climbing and still raining.
One thing i learned today if it is raining next Sunday for the Dragon Ride, i shall be staying in bed.
