MemberI’ll be there and, as its the last sportive of my season, the plan is to give it everything I’ve got left…100 miles on a tandem seems perfect training to me

MemberHope everyone had a good ride. Weather was just great. I enjoyed the 80 miler. Was tempted to go on and do the long route at the split, but thought better of it. Good choice I think, as I finished by 1 o’clock not feeling too knackerd and home before 3 for a couple of beers in the garden. Happy days.

MemberTime buggered by 20 min wait for helicopter to air lift a very unfortunate entrant..glad it wasn’t me..happened on a fast stretch of descent from Bwlch
still 16.4 mph average not a disgrace..little tip – 130 miles is a long wayJune 9, 2013 at 8:51 pm #25935Anonymous
InactiveTwas tough damn day in the saddle!! Quite a few nasty spills kept the medics busy. I thought I was gonna bonk on the devils elbow and time not helped by a sore knee and losing acontact lense half way up the Bwlch!

MemberGran Fondo
8h55 (according to Garmin)
9h02 (According to Strava from the same data!)Anyway pretty pleased, quite a few accidents. Didn’t hear about the one on the Bwlch until I got back. At least visibility was greatly improved from the last time we were there. There was one poor unfortunate surrounded by Ambulances/Paramedics at the bottom of the Black Mountains. He looked in a right state.
Certainly a hot day but, that makes a change. Really enjoyed it..June 10, 2013 at 8:54 am #25938Roger
MemberNick Gibbon is an amazing athlete ( his very impressive time comes as no suprise..but I bet he’s gutted he missed gold by a wisker ) and I knew I had started with the wrong group when I noticed they all shaved their legs and their bikes and kit made me look like some first-timer! I kept with them for the first 15 miles at an average speed of 21 mph..then I lagged behind a little on the first major climb of the day and got caught by the traffic lights..needless to say I never saw them again..
Well done Nick..I can’t Kudos you on Stava as you’ve given it upJune 10, 2013 at 10:03 am #25939Morganite
Memberi found Jon Doig time 9.46
June 10, 2013 at 11:49 am #25940stoneditch
MemberHuw, I was going on my ‘moving time’ not time spent at the feed stops stuffing power bars. I actually think now that they are nicer than Torq bars so might change
So to be clear then. The ‘chip time’ or ‘time on the course’ was 9h46. Garmin ‘moving time’ was 8h55 😉
