Back in the Saddle – A ride to Feel Good Inc. – concept by Sweaty and execution by Mrs ValleyMan.
Imagine the disappointment having struggled up Narberth Hill to find that Sweaty was ‘indisposed’, however, this was soon forgotten by the excellent turnout (not that I would know what a good turnout looks like) of vaguely familiar faces with numbers boosted by Mr and Mrs [redacted].
As night follows day Mat had a go at changing the route but a resolute Mrs ValleyMan backed up by the peloton was not for turning (towards Tavernspite) and a more or less straight run (including a section of footpath) took us to the Feel Good Inc. Café. Even the Chairman seemed to enjoy his coffee once a slightly startled Rhys had sprung into action.
Oh s**t its the Aces exclaimed Mrs [redected] as her and Mr [redacted] quickly disappeared behind copy of the Western Telegraph. But it was to no avail as they has been spotted. After a bit of friendly banter we were off again on the return leg via Tenby (Matt decided that we were all a bunch of wooseys and struck off west on his own) meeting wave after wave (after wave – yes there were lots of them) of the Milford Haven Club.
It was at this point the lack of miles in my legs (zero) started to show crawling slowly up every slight (and not so slight incline) but eventually got home having covered a respectable 39 miles at an average of 13.1 miles per hour.
Thanks to Roger, Graham, Leighton, Pete, Jonathon and Legal Eagle plus those name checked above for their company on my ‘comeback’ ride.
