As our attempt to get an overseas trip fell before the first pint had settled, anyone tempted with a trip up north for the tour de france?
As daft as it appears, camping at a Rapha event appears the cheapest option and includes, exhibitions, films, organised rides, stores, bars etc and is £85pp for four nights with the tour passing nearby two days running.
Thursday 3rd July – Drive up early, pitch the tent and go for an early evening ride in the Yorkshire dales.
Friday 4th July – Day or leisure/rides/enjoy activity
Saturday 5th July – Watch the start on the big screens, cycle to watch the tour pass then cycle to harrogate to see the finish. (22miles each way)
Sunday 6th July – Watch the tour pass then either an organised ride or head off to the dales and tackle some of the climbs from the previous day, then either drive home or stay the final night.
I will be going 100%, and will be booking my camping ticket before Christmas. If anyone wants to share petrol, feel free to drop me a line here.

Try Stu at the Dales Bike Centre. Camping available, and big screens!! Just outside of Reeth, Buttertubs Pass only a few miles away. If you hang around for a few days I’ll give you a tour of all the best climbs Swaledale has to offer..
Do we need passports for Yorkshire?
