It’s the post you have all be waiting for.

I see a bake-off looming and would have suggested that Roger could be the judge, but how many £1,000’s would he have to spend to mitigate the inevitable weight gain?

So with thanks to Richard, its pinnies on and off you go:

As requested here’s the recipe for my Cycling flapjacks.

    Ingredients:

    175g Salted Welsh butter

    50g Caster sugar

    150g Golden syrup

    250g Rolled oats

    25g Chopped prunes

    25g Dried cranberries

25g Chopped walnuts or other seeds/nuts

Put butter, sugar & syrup in a large pan and melt over low heat stirring occasionally until smooth and combined. Add the remaining ingredients and stir until thoroughly combined.

Turn the mixture into a lined 200mm square tin and bake for 20 minutes at 180 C.

Leave to cool slightly, cut into bit size squares, leave to fully cool.

Stuff in rear pockets or large saddle bag and consume one every ten miles!

    Hi Ian,

Thank a lot for the receipe – I have not cooked flapjacks since school and then I had to pas them off as Rockcakes!

Gave Janice the recipe tonight!! Went to options evening in the school with James. Just arrived home to the smell of burning syrup. Apparently she followed the recipe to the letter but thinks she might have over cooked them slightly!!

Does anyone have a pneumatic drill we could borrow because even my meat cleaver (which slices through a bull’s femur like a hot knife through butter), failed to even crack the surface!!

Has Janice perhaps hit upon an alternative to carbon frames?

Better put Steve Allen on standby if you plan sharing your flapjack on Sunday.
